related work by the artist Debbie Qadri

Here are some links to previous work that I have made which will give you ideas about how ceramics could be used to make public artworks. Its a starting point for understanding the way I use the material in public space, which might let us think about other ways to use ceramics in the making of public artworks. For each one there are a couple of photos, an explanation about how I think it might fit into the project, and a link to the site for more information.
Please note that sometimes I am known as Debbie Harman (maiden name)

 Sages of Sunshine
The sages of sunshine is a small project in sunshine. It uses bisque tiles that have been painted with liquid underglaze and glaze by the artist.

 Poets of Moonambel
This project was about making short poems out of ceramic lettering and then assembling them in public places, such as fences. The Moonambel Art and History Group are working with artist Debbie Harman to run a workshop for the people of moonambel, to make the letters for their poems and then to create the installation of poetry as part of their regular Easter Exhibition.

 Noah's ark and Overnewton
This is my biggest ceramic mural project There are ceramic artworks by over 500 students and parents contained in the mural and year 8 students made the larger artworks such as the boat, Noah's family and animals.
It is at Overnewton College, Keilor campus. Junior School entrance.

You can visit it in school hours. go down overnewton rd and turn right into the second entrance to the college on the right. Drive down to the bottom of the carpark and there is five minute parking available (But not at student pick-up, drop-off times). http:noahsarkatovernewton.blogspot.com.au

Here are some new works that I have been developing, with a mind to how they might be used on concrete structures.
One series is about the native creatures that live along our Western riverbanks
and the other group is about walking, listening, looking and thinking, whilst walking in our reserves.
They are all earthenware ceramics.

If you got this far, then you might as well have a look at these, which are the artworks that I have been making on concrete structures as trials to see what can be done.

Here is the first one:

FOR A LITTLE WHILE YOU ARE ENVELOPED IN BLUE AND GREEN
In the stone like circles are phrases that describe what you see, feel and hear as you walk in this area.
I am pleased to say that I asked a friend to come along with me for company and suddenly I had a crew of three, who are looking forward to assisting me with the next artwork.  Thanks girls!
